Thank you for becoming a Red Cross volunteer. By running this blood drive, you're now a member of a volunteer team that has, for over 100 years, strived each day to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to disasters and emergencies. A team that has spanned the nation and the world, braving everything from war-torn battlefields to local disasters. A team that, every day, meets America's critical blood needs.

A rare chance to be a hero.
The blood program is exceptionally rewarding because it offers a unique connection to the people you help. Blood donors are literally giving a living part of themselves to aid another person. It is a rare opportunity to realize the hero that lives in all of us - to make the difference between life and death. Consider this: A patient needs blood every two seconds. And there is a 97 percent chance that anyone - you, your family members, your friends - will some day need blood. By organizing a blood drive, you're helping to make sure that whenever someone calls out for blood, there will be an answer.

We understand how busy everyone is these days. But please make this drive a priority. Your Red Cross representative will give you advice, materials, and support to make the event a success. The goal you both set will become part of the commitment we make to hospitals and their patients in the United States. Make the extra calls to recruit donors. Talk to a few more people. Those added pints will make a tremendous difference in someone's life and help meet 100 percent of your goal.
