Coordinate details with your Red Cross representative (day of the drive).
Your Red Cross representative can tell you exactly what you need to do on the day of the drive.
Someone on your team should arrive at the blood drive site well before the first scheduled appointment. This will allow time to greet the Red Cross staff and get the site ready. Have clearly marked signs to indicate the site location to donors. Make sure volunteers are comfortable with their assignments.
As donors arrive, make sure someone is available to answer their questions. Consider having a volunteer check off donor names and appointments and someone else making reminder calls to anyone who might have a scheduled appointment. If there is an opening in the schedule, it's still not too late to recruit someone to fill in. This may be a good opportunity to call people on a back-up list. Remember to thank all donors for their lifesaving contributions.
Hopefully, by the end, you will have met your drive goal, making it the perfect ending to a rewarding day. |
